2026 Club Nationals

USA Curling

The 2026 Club Nationals are quickly approaching. We'll have the Jeannot and Caldwell rinks as our host club teams and a full field of 12 men's and 12 women's teams from across the country competing for the championship.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with timing, ice crew, and officiating. Timing resources are available to view for free at World Curling Academy and the Competitions Timing site.  Erin Hofland is the head official for the event and she has offered to do an on-site training course prior to the event start and is available for any questions you may have.  Her information can be found on the SignUpGenius form which is linked above.

Spring League Registration

Spring league information is posted on the website.  Registration will be open March 2-22. Spring and summer leagues are a great time to get some extra games in, curl with some different folks, try a new format (maybe Triples!?!), or introduce new people to the game.

We will offer 2 Futures (beginner) leagues this spring. We're hoping to bring in a new wave of people fresh off the Olympic boom! Chat it up with your friends, coworkers, or relatives. Help introduce our wonderful sport of curling to more people!

Paralympic Team Camp

Paralympic curling team scrimmage

The U.S. Paralympic curling teams are enjoying some practice time before heading to Italy for the Paralympic Games, which will be played March 6-16.

Members Stu, Ken, Dave, and Greg played a scrimmage game against the team, with some sporting their Canada jackets they recently obtained from a bonspiel in Winnipeg - a great way to give an international feel to the game!

Head to the Milano Cortina 2026 webpage to check out when the team will play and how you can watch.  We are wishing the team safe travels and great success on the ice!  Good curling!

League Make-up Games

League make-up games can be scheduled on March 16-18, 6 or 8 p.m. Curling Center staff will assist with ice reservations.

Other dates and times are certainly available. We might have open sheets on weekends, sometimes at nights, and during the weekdays. We are happy to explore options for you! We like to see teams making up missed games and getting a full season in.

Member Appreciation Week

Member holding member appreciation gifts

We are in our 10th year and want to extend a thank you to our members!  Whether you have been with us from the beginning or slid into the game more recently, everyone has contributed to making the Curling Center a wonderful place.

During leagues on March 6-12, we will have a small gift, some treats, and the Crooked Pint will offer some specials as we say thank you to you!  We will do a random drawing for awesome prizes for members playing in leagues. If your team is on a bye, you are still included in the drawings and are welcome to come down or pick up your gift the following week.

We will also have full membership drawings, so we don't miss anyone.

Curling Rules Refresher

A big alarm clock in the middle of a people curling

The Buzzer!

You always hear us preaching to try to get to 8 ends in a league game.  An 8-end game should be able to easily be played in a 2-hour window.  Figure 15 minutes per end, max.

Here are some tips to help you reach the fabled 8th end:

  • Be "hack ready" when the other team clears the ice.  That means you have your rock cleaned and be ready to throw as soon as the skip calls the shot.
  • And for skips, have a plan for the end in your mind before it starts (are we trying to keep it open to score a point, are we trying to junk it up and steal a point, etc.?) and try to anticipate 2 or 3 shots ahead.  You can see what the other team is calling, so what will your plan be if their shot is made?

Back to buzzer - this is meant to make sure games finish on time.  When you hear it go off, finish the end you are in and play one more (if needed). It's good practice to confirm with the opposing team to make sure everyone is on the same page.

As a reminder, an end doesn't start until the first stone has been thrown.
